My first mother's day, and yes the time is 5am!

Being a new Mum to a toddler means......
Never having uninterrupted phone calls
Learning to walk around the block very slowly
Starting to sing again
Conducting endless one sided conversations (let’s go …, there’s a …, where’s the….)
Forgetting things (the pusher at Clifton Hill shops, my wallet, the nappy bag)
Losing things (bibs, hats, cups, toys, books)
Making mistakes (washing a disposable nappy, what a mess)
Vowing to stop finishing off half eaten biscuits, bits of toast and tubs of yogurt
Having grimy fingermarks over everything
Feeling tired all the time
Going to bed at 8.30 and waking at 5
Thinking that waking at 7 is a fabulous sleep in
Enthusiastically reading the same book over and over and over
Taking time to watch the clouds, smell flowers, feel the rain
Making new friends (at playgroup, swimming, the park)
Enjoying winning smiles and beautiful hugs and kisses
Being as happy as I can ever remember

Four months after our arrival in Australia the Suixi (swayshi) girls had their first get together at Mei’s place in Clifton Hill. Her Mum and Dad really organised the day well with plenty of wheelie toys and there were heaps of good things to eat.

A big attraction for us girls was the fishponds. Covered in mesh, we all had a great time walking over them and sticking our hands (or feet) through so we could try to catch the fish. Lots of fun and who cares about wet shoes anyway.

Some of the parents thought it would be a great idea to try to recreate the red couch shot at the White Swan. Although there were no tears this time, we wriggled and squirmed because who really wants to sit still for even a minute when there is fun to be had elsewhere.
